I know that learning new words is difficult. I also know that keeping those words organised in your head is almost more difficult! Luckily isiZulu has a system to help you remember the words (check out my ancient blog on the Noun Classes, and you’ll see what I mean). However, it is also useful to group words into specific vocabulary sets. Those of you who survived (or are currently surviving) school isiZulu will know all about learning random lists of words for tests.
In terms of the latest understandings of the neuropsychology of learning, there are two ways of learning pieces of information: generalisation and story. I aim to teach you the words through a story, in the context of generalisable rules for whichever language I am teaching.
Here’s an example of the kind of Vocabulary help you will get if you choose Option A for learning isiZulu with Mabhengwane. If you have already chosen, subscribed and paid, you can go here to gain access to the latest grammar and vocabulary. You can sign up by following this link.
You will get a pdf or picture of the words to be learned, like this one:

You will also get an audio or video file for the words to be learned, explaining them as a story, like this one:
If you are still lost, you can ask uMabhengwane for help. Short answers are mahala, but if you need a longer answer you can schedule a lesson with him.
